On the occasion of Nepal’s Constitution Day, Michelle Rowland MP, Shadow Minister for Communications, Federal member for Greenway sent a message to Nepalese Australian community. She congratulated the Australian Nepalese community while they celebrated Nepal’s 5thConstitution Day on 17th September. This important day, also treated as the National Day of Nepal, is celebrated across Nepal and all over the world where Nepalese communities live.
On behalf of her party, she extendedher warm greetings to the Nepalese community. She thanked for providing this important opportunity for her to meet Nepalese Community leaders remotely.
She said, ” If not for the COVID-19 pandemic, I was scheduled to visit Nepal earlier this year. It would have been a wonderful opportunity for me to see the home country of so many of my Nepali friends in our community, and to better understand Nepali culture and traditions.”
She represent a proud and diverse Nepalese community in Western Sydney. While delivering speech she said, “Today we celebrate Nepal’s transition into a representative democracy, embracing the values of freedom, fairness, and respect. We acknowledge that this transition did not occur naturally – it came as a result of decades of advocacy by passionate Nepalis prepared to make the case for change. We remember their sacrifices to manifest a Nepal that is more representative of and accountable to its people.”
The Constitution Day celebration was hosted by the Hon. Consul-General of Nepal, NSW Deepak K Khadka. In this event, Senator for NSW Andrew Bragg and leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of New South Wales Jodi McKay also extended warm wishes to the Nepalese Australian community.
