Australian Government ministers have extended Dashain 2021 greetings to the Nepalese community in Australia. In his Dashain 2021 message, the Hon. Alex Hawke MP, Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant service and Multicultural Affairs extends his warmest greetings to all Nepalese Australians celebrating their biggest festival across the world.

He expressed his joy to join the Nepalese community in their proud celebration. He states that Dashain, a symbol unity and joy, is a time of gathering together in celebration of the triumph of good over evil and praying of prosperity a path of goodness and compassion. He further says that he is very happy to be reminded that occasions like Dashain is a part of the vibrant cultural diversity that enriches Australia.  He also pays compliment on the Nepalese Australian community for its dedication in protecting the safety and wellbeing of others throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. He also says that the act of celebrating the important religious festival at home and getting vaccinated is an act of great respect and kindness to our community and keeps all Australians safe.

Similarly, in her Dashain 2071 message, the Hon. Natalie Ward MLC, NSW Minister for Multiculturalism expresses the warmest appreciation and best wishes to the Australian Nepalese on the colourful festival symbolizing triumph of good over evil.

This year’s Dashain will be different as all Australians too are tackling the global pandemic through various public health measures to protect all. This holy occasion’s central message offers us all hope that we will overcome this challenge together showing support and solidarity with the NSW Government for the entire country’s overall health and well-being. In her message, she also says that the NSW Government thanks the Nepalese community for its support for public health measures and vaccinations that are helping the country’s fight against COVID-19. She commends the community for its compliance and patience and extends happy, safe and healthy Dashain celebrations.

Early last week, on Tuesday 12 October, Assistant Minister to the Prime minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Honourable David Coleman – Member for Banks organised a Dashain greeting program on a virtual platform with Nepalese Community.
