Foreign Secretaries of Nepal and Australia Meet for Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Canberra, August 29 – Foreign Secretary of Nepal Mr. Bharat Raj Paudyal, met Ms. Jan Adams, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia today in Canberra on Monday 29 August. During the meeting, they discussed various aspects of bilateral relations between Nepal and Australia and agreed to promote and foster cooperation in different areas of mutual interest.

Memorandum of Understanding Signed

At the top-level meeting, held amid an encouraging and lively atmosphere, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Australia on Cooperation in the Fields of Water Resources Management was signed. Mr. Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, Secretary, Water, and Energy Commission of Secretariate of Nepal, and Ms. Jan Adams, Secretary, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia signed the MoU representing their respective Governments.

The Team of the High-Level Delegates of the Nepal Government

A Nepali delegation led by Foreign Secretary Mr. Bharat Raj Paudyal arrived in Canberra on 28 August 2022 to participate in the second meeting of the Nepal-Australia Bilateral Relations Consultation Mechanism between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia which is scheduled to be held on 30th August 2022.

Secretary of Water and Energy Commission Secretariate Mr. Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, H.E. Mr. Kailash Raj Pokharel, Ambassador to Australia, Joint Secretary Mr. Lok Bahadur Thapa and Under Secretary Ms. Sita Basnet of Ministry of Foreign Affairs are the other delegates from Nepal.
