Sydney, The biggest two-day Nepalese football tournament in Sydney is to take place in October 2022. The much-awaited 5th edition of the MFC Cup, VDA MFC Cup 2022 will be held at Valentine Sports Park, Glenwood NSW on the 29th and 30th of October 2022. The well-known football championship is organized by the leading football club Machhapuchhre Football Club (MFC) in association of ANFA, Australia. The distinctive two-day soccer championship has VDA Finance and Capital Pty Ltd as the title sponsor.

9 A Side National Soccer Tournament (All Age and Forever Young)

In the Nepalese football tournament in Sydney, 24 teams from different states of Australia in the Free Age and 8 teams in the Forever Young (35+) category will be chasing the covetous championship. The two-day ‘football fiesta’ of distinction is annually organized as the year’s last major football tournament in our community.  Like in its previous editions, all the matches will be held in Valentine Sports Park, the headquarters of Football NSW and the home of Football in New South Wales, renowned for its high-caliber fields. The club has been providing the Nepalese players with an opportunity to participate in a semi-world-class venue, and for spectators to enjoy this event.

Press Meet Organised to Provide the Road Map to the Tournament

The MFC President, the prominent sports personality Ajay Kshatri set the tone of the press meet held on 27 August at Mokshya Lounge and Bar, Auburn, Sydney. In his welcome speech, he shared, “On behalf of the organizer, I would like to thank all valued stakeholders including the title sponsor VDA Finance and Capital Pty Ltd, other sponsors, supporters, all the participating teams, and the media fraternity who have cooperated very reassuringly for the last round preparation to make successful like in the previous editions. We would like to appeal to all participating teams to display the splendid games and sportsmanship like in the previous editions and support Nepalese football tournaments in Australia.”

The committed sports personality and the acclaimed entrepreneur respected Karna Rana said, “It’s everyone’s pride to be a part of the illustrious tournament.  The team VDA is proud to involve in this project as the title sponsor for this year and to join in the last major sporting event of the year. We are eager to celebrate this spectacular phenomenon with the football-loving community. MFC has offered a fitting platform for all the footballers of our community living in different states and enhanced the quality of our common soccer culture. It has consistently performed for the overall promotion of football in our community and this tournament too would be as in the past of great benefit to everyone concerned and for what it meant. MFC secretary and renowned footballer Prabin Joshi gave a briefing to the media about the upcoming tournament, VDA MFC Cup 2022. He said, “It will consist of 24 all-age teams and 8 forever young teams from all over Australia. In addition to the 800 participants, we are anticipating a crowd of well over 1500 spectators. There will be fun events for children and families, which will increase community participation.” In the media briefing, he further said, “The Team Rules and Regulations will be distributed closer to the tournament date. Each match in the group stage games, pre-quarter, quarterfinals, and semi-finals will be played for 20 minutes.  The final match will be played for 30 minutes.”

Awards for the Winning Teams and Individual Players

In the Nepalese football tournament in Sydney, winners of the Free Age will bag $4000.00, Champions Cup, Running Shield, and medals. Likewise, the runner-up will be awarded $1500.00, 1st Runners-up Cup, and Medals. Joint 3rd position holders will be honoured with medals.

In addition to an individual trophy Player of the Tournament (outfield), Goalkeeper of the Tournament, and Highest Scorer each will win $200.00, and the Fair Play Team also will win $200.00. In the Forever Young category, the winner will bag $1500.00, Champions Cup, Running Shield, and Medals. Likewise, the runner-up will be awarded $500.00, 1st Runners-up Cup, and Medals. Joint 3rd position holders will be honoured with medals. In addition to an individual trophy Player of the Tournament (outfield), Goalkeeper of the Tournament, and Highest Scorer each will win $150.00, and the Fair Play Team also will win $150.00. The tournament has a total cash prize of $ 8400.00

The press meet live telecasted by Fusionsports OZ was attended by the representatives from the participating teams and media persons, and some joined it via the internet platform.
