Bayside Library has established its own Nepalese collection to cater for the growing Nepalese community who are choosing to make their home in local government area.
The new collection has been made possible with a State Library NSW Local Priority grant.
“This new collection is a significant resource to support our growing Nepalese community and will ensure we continue to meet the needs of our culturally diverse residents,” Bayside mayor Joe Awada said.
“This Nepalese collection adds to our broad range of library resources in different languages that reflects diverse cultural backgrounds and interests of our community.”
Since 2014 Council has been borrowing Nepalese books from the State Library NSW to cater for the local Nepalese Community. The Grant funding has enabled Bayside Council to establish its first permanent Nepalese collection which will be housed at Rockdale Library.
More than 600 items have been purchased for this new collection including Nepalese books and DVDs for all ages with the $34,320 grant funding received from State Library NSW.
