Melbourne, Expert Sagarmatha Blues wins Global Interface T 10 Nepalese Cricket Championship 2022 organised by Victorian Nepalese Cricket Association (VNCA). In the recently concluded 4th edition of the well-known championship, Five Victoria-based teams Maven Cricket Club, Brighton United Club, Far West Hunter Cricket Club, Global Interface Cricket Club, and Expert Sagarmatha Blues had chased for the prestigious championship.
In the title match of the admired Nepalese Cricket Championship, Expert Sagarmatha Blues defeated Far West Hunter by 42 runs. The batting strength of Expert Sagarmatha Blues stood out. Expert opened the batting and scored 185 runs at the loss of 1 wicket. The run-chase proved to be uphill climb for the opponent. Expert Sagarmatha Blues restricted Far West Hunter to 143 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. In the decider the in-form Expert batsman Ashish GC brought up a century and Sumit scored 56.
The winner and runner-up teams were awarded the cash prize amounting to $3000 and $500 respectively along with the trophies, medals, and certificates. Cricket is a team game, but individual awards are also much valued. Manish Khakurel was declared Best batsman, Nirajan Karki was adjudged best bowler, Sudeep Neupane was awarded best wicket-keeper, and Sanjay Khatri bagged the man-of-the-series title.
In the closing ceremony, VNCA president Sujit Basnet said, “We are proud to continue the glorious tradition and contribute to the rich sports culture of our community.
