Nepalese Ambassador Kailash Raj Pokharel Presented Letters of Credence

Canberra, July 25, The newly appointed Nepalese Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Kailash Raj Pokharel, presented his diplomatic credentials to His Excellency General, the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd.), Governor-General of Australia. The special ceremony was held amid an encouraging and lively atmosphere at the Government House in Canberra on Monday 25 July 2022.

Stress laid on the bilateral relations between Nepal and Australia

Following the diplomatic ceremony, H.E. Mr Pokharel made a courtesy call on His Excellency the Honorable Governor General of Australia.  H. E. Mr Pokharel conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Rt. Hon. Bidya Devi Bhandari, President, and Rt. Hon. Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prime Minister of Nepal to His Excellency Governor-General of Australia for his personal health and happiness as well as for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of the people of Australia. H.E. Mr Pokharel highlighted various aspects of bilateral relations based on mutual understanding, trust and cooperation between Nepal and Australia.

His Excellency Governor-General of Australia welcomed and congratulated H.E. Mr Pokharel. He also extended his best wishes for his successful tenure and expressed happiness about the growing friendly relations between Nepal and Australia over the years. H.E. Mr Pokharel was accorded the National Salute by the Guard of Honour followed by unfurling the National Flag and playing the National Anthem of Nepal.

Also present on the occasion were the Representative of the Foreign Minister, Official Secretary, Chief of Protocol, and other high-ranking officials of the Australian Government, and Mrs Basudha Pokharel, the spouse of the Ambassador and staff of the Embassy of Nepal. After the ceremony, H.E. Mr Pokharel and Mrs Pokharel attended the luncheon hosted by Governor-General Australia.

Ambassador of Nepal to Australia H.E. Mr Pokharel is the successor to Ambassador Mahesh Raj Dahal,who served as a Nepalese Ambassador to Australia for the short term of service (2019-2021).
