Nepalese Volleyball Tournament in Sydney

Sydney March 1, Organised by the admired leading community organisation Thakali Sewa Samiti, Australia, (ThaSeSa Australia), the much-awaited and prestigious tournament 7th Toranlha Volleyball and 5th Basketball Tournament Running Cup 2022’, will take place on Sunday, 6 March 2022  at The Johnny Warren Indoor Sports Centre, Hurstville Aquatic Centre, Cnr of King Georges Road and Forest Road, Penshurst NSW.

Press Meet and Team Draw Held

 A press meet cum team draw was held amid the encouraging and lively environment on 20 February at Muglan, Rockdale, Sydney to flow the information about the upcoming sports meet. It was attended by the representatives of the participating teams, media persons, representatives of the sponsors, supporters, sports lovers, etc.

The ThaSeSaAustralia Sports Coordinator Gajendra Gauchan put the tone of the program chaired by the president Durga Gauchan. From the chair, the president viewed, “We are proud to continue the glorious tradition and contribute to the rich sports culture of our community. I personally and on behalf of the organisation would like to thank the entire community for the admirable cooperation and support. We will remain thankful to all the valued stakeholders including the title sponsor, Platinum sponsor, Diamond sponsors, supporters, the participating teams and the media fraternity who have supported very reassuringly for the last round preparation to make the running cup a grand success like in its previous editions. We look forward to the entire community for the continued support and cooperation.”

 The team draw being attended by the representatives of the participating teams and media was conducted on the occasion.

The event was graced by the community leader Gyanendra Karki, CEO of Metro Homes and Partners as the chief guest. Ankit Singh Parmar, Director of Sapphire Real Estate Agency as the special guests were Indra Thapa Magar (president Mona Myagdi Australia), Razman Thakali, (director Muglan, Himaaus) and Nitin Batra, (director Metro Homes and Partners).

 The chief guest of the press meet cum team draw session, the CEO Metro Homes and Partners, the reputed community worker and esteemed entrepreneur respected Gyanendra Karki viewed, “Our team is proud to support this popular one-day sport-fiesta as the title sponsor and would like to join in the first major volleyball and basketball sports meet of the year and celebrate with the sport-loving community. The organiser has offered a fitting platform to all the players of our community living in different states and enhanced the quality of our common sports culture. The special guest, Ankit Singh Parmar, the young successful entrepreneur shared, “We would like to thank the organisers for creating an opportunity for making us involved in the prestigious event and reaching out to the great community. Participating Teams and Prizes

The volleyball tournament will be contested by 8 teams – Mona Australia Volleyball Club, Canberra Volleyball team, Myagdi Kalika Volleyball Club, Dhorpatan Volleyball Club, Sunrise Volleyball Club, Chantyal Volleyball Club, Jaljala Volleyball Club, and the home team Thakali Volleyball Club.  The winner and runner-up will be awarded the cash prize amounting to $2005 and $1005 respectively along with the trophies, medals, and certificates. The man of the match will be awarded $75 and the Best player of the tournament, best lifter, best spiker, best libero, best server, best quicker and best blocker each will be awarded $50 and a trophy. Seven teams will be competing in the Toranlha Running Cup 2022, 5th Basketball Tournament. The teams are divided into two pools and will be played in league cum knockout format.

Also present on the occasion were the ThaSeSaAustralia vice- president Tara Bhattachan, and secretary Basanta Gauchan, joint secretary Rabin Sherchan and treasurer Suresh Sherchan.  Advisors Bharat Sherchan and Narayan Bhattachan, Chat Man Pun Magar (volleyball referee official), Buddha Bhattachan (Thakali Volleyball Manager) and Puran Thakali (Thakali Sewa Samiti Australia, volleyball coach.  Ranjit ONTA representing Sapphire Real Estate and Razman Thakali representing Hima Aus Education Consultancy were also present at the event.

Many enthusiastic audiences and community members are expected to turn up to watch the would-be sure-shot spellbinding volleyball and basketball matches.
